This air gap heats up during the day, storing warmth radiating from the metal sheet roof. Painting process: The office's metal sheet rooftop was coated on May 24th with Planet Supra Thermal Barrier Paint in white color, with the objective of shielding the building from solar radiations and save on electricity cost for air-conditioning. Planet Supra was applied with rollers after dillution with 5% distilled water. Water had to be added regularly as it evaporated fast in ambient temperatures of above 40°C. Results: air gap temperature summary after painting Planet Supra:
Roof/ceiling air gap temperatures were recorded with electronic data loggers before and after painting, from 7am until 7pm.
