Feb.11: Benchmark Electronics offsets 103 Tons of CO2 with Planet Supra (video)

Benchmark_-_Painted_2_260x178Benchmark Electronics is a US-based electronics component manufacturer. Planet Supra nano Thermal Barrier Paint was chosen to refurbish its facilities located in Ayutthaya High-Tech Industrial Park, Thailand.

The main objective was to repaint buildings which paint had faded after only a few years in the tropical weather. Planet Supra was chosen because of the additional value it offers:

  • high solar reflectance, making buildings cooler
  • self-cleaning effect, preserving painted surfaces' appearance
  • absence of cracks, no peeling for more than a decade
  • carbon offset certification: painted buildings become eco-friendly
4,610sqm were painted during the project's first phase. Planet Supra matte white was applied as first coat, directly onto the metal sheet. Planet Supra Neo, in a custom-made glossy dark green color, was painted as a top coat.

Application step 1: roofs cleaned with high pressure water spray

Surfaces have to be cleaned properly before painting, to ensure optimum paint bonding.

Application step 2: paint one coat of Planet Supra White

A regular primer could have been applied, followed by two coats of Planet Supra Neo dark green. Planet Supra can be applied directly onto any surface, without primer: using it as first coat reduced work load while preserving heat reflective performance.

Application step 3: paint one coat of Planet Supra Neo Dark Green (top coat)

Planet Supra Neo, the glossy nano Thermal Barrier Paint, was manufactured in a custom-made dark green color specially for Benchmark Electronics.
