This project was completed on October 5th 2010. The objective was to measure how much energy could be saved on air-conditioning during the rainy season, when ambient temperatures are mild, the sky overcast and rain showers frequent.

Results summary

• Building is cooler by 21.5°C: roof underside surface temperature is up to 28% cooler than before. A maximum difference of 46% was recorded when comparing identical days before and after painting;

• Electricity consumption reduced by 46%: the office's daily kWh consumption dropped by 46%, the daily air-conditioning's kWh consumption alone dropped by over 39%.

Base colors white and light grey have the best heat reflective performance while custom-made colors such as blue, red or green are still cooler than traditional heat reflective coatings by more than 5ºC. All colors are available on order, the lighter the color the higher the heat reflective performance.
