Share Metal cabinets such as the one in the photo contain the electronic equipment that manage Internet connections offered by True Corporation Public Company Limited to subscribers to its True Internet service.

True Corp. is a communication conglomerate in Thailand and a subsidiary of the Charoen Pokphand (CP) group. True controls Thailand's largest cable TV provider True Visions, its largest ISP True Internet and its third-largest mobile operator True Move.

Technical trial objectives:

Since the metal cabinets are located outdoors, they are directly impacted by solar radiations which heat up the atmosphere inside. Electronic equipment is sensitive to heat, the cooler it is the better and more reliably it performs. Fans constantly extract hot air from the cabinets, but in Thailand's warm climate it is not enough.

As a technical trial to provide additional insulation to the cabinets, four of them were coated with Planet Supra Thermal Barrier Paint in February 2010.

Test conditions:

Four outdoors metal cabinets were selected for their exposure to the sun most of the day. Some are fixed several meters high on electric poles, others are fixed on the ground.

Measurements:

Electronic data loggers were placed at various locations in and outside of the cabinets

Results: coated cabinets up to 16% / 9.5°C cooler inside!
